It certainly looks like a reasonable write-up.

In general, the Venetians did very well, selling shipping, fodder,
food, and supplies to the European travelers.  War is good for
business, if your business is supplying goods to the combatants from a
safe distance.

Winners and losers are generally a matter of perspective.   :)
