2.5 yards is good for about average sized person, more if you feel you
need it.  That'll get you through one wrap (called the veshti wrap....
its the wrap I usually do with my sari folded in half to get about 3
yards).  The other one or two would require about 6 yards (more if you
feel necessary) that is the usual length of a sari.

The veshti wrap is appropriate for women AND MEN, so get yourself a
masculine looking length of fabric for it.  They wouldn't have worn
shirts, but I'm sure you could get away with a T-tunic on top.  Also,
I THINK I can remember how to wrap one of the modern men's pants-wrap,
but I'll have to try and brush up on it.

Also, depending on how many people confirm they're coming to the
Bollywood night, I can make sure I have enough choli patterns and
"Draped Garments of India" by Baroness Vairavi to hand out (though you
can find both online yourselves, I believe).  Ohh, and speaking of
cholis, all three wraps are FAR more comfortable with one (two are
lower half only, the modern one is... well the modern... but if you
have to make do with just a tshirt, try one that is tight fitting
enough that it stays out of your way.  I find that trying to wrap and
trying to hold the hem of a tshirt out of the way at the same time is
mighty irritating.

P.S.  Bollywood made me think of the movie Johdaa Akbar that Valerius
and I saw and loved, so I orded it tonight and will bring it with if
it arrives in time.  I'm not sure if its period, but I believe the
story is at least close.
