Subject: [NS-Youth] A Challenge from Their Majesties and Her Highness
To: ns-youth at northshield.org
Unto the young journeymen of Northshield, do We, Lars and Mary, King and
Queen of Northshield, and Gwyneth, Our Princess, send these words of
greeting and letters of challenge.
It is a right and worthy thing that Our Royalty offer largesse, charity
and Noblesse Oblige as is worthy of Our Kingdom. It is Our wish that the
Journeymen of Northshield who have not yet reached the age of majority
assist us in ensuring that coming Kings and Queens are able to meet this
duty.
A Journeyman is any person in Northshield who is above the age of
nursery-that being two years of age and has not yet reached the age of
Majority-that being eighteen years of age.
For those who are not yet of the age to be sponsored-that being thirteen
years, we ask that you make at least five things with the help of a
parent or as part of an event's youth activities. We will have such
Journeymen's chest projects at Autumn Rose and the Coronation of
Siegfried and Gwyneth at St. CeCil's Siege, and at other events
throughout the year. The list, when finalized will be available through
the Ministry of Youth.
For those who have reached an age to be sponsored, we ask that you get
in contact with a Master who can, by him or herself, or through an
apprentice, teach you a new skill that creates a tangible gift for our
coffers. Shortly after Coronation, you will be receiving letters and
assistance to aid you in making such a connection.
For youth ministers and parents throughout Northshield, please work with
our minister, Sabina de Almeria to learn of projects and to obtain
materials that have been tested with children in Our kingdom and proved
to meet Our needs.
Finally, for Laurels of Our Kingdom, we request, if you are contacted by
Our ministers and asked to serve, that you will consider teaching a
young journeyman between the ages of 13 and 18 in your craft and will
help them plan a project that is appropriate to their skill level and
authentic to the places and times in which we live.
It is Our wish that your work might fill the coffers of a journeyman's
chest by the spring of the year with items that are beautiful, useful
and worthy of this Kingdom. We look for items that are easily packed,
aesthetically pleasing, useful and, if possible, marked with the Compass
Rose or with the mark of a Northshield award or the colors of another
Kingdom that Our Royalty might give these as charity.
It is Our intent to keep the kingdom posted on the Journeyman's chest
project through the Northshield web site and through presentations at
various and sundry places in the kingdom. We pray that, as you have done
in the past, you fill us with pride and amazement at your talents and
enthusiasm.
Vivat, Journeymen of Northshield. May your journeys to gain knowledge
and inspire others, begin!
Lars, Rex
Mary, Regina
Gwyneth, Princessa
