arte of defence to whom these words come do I 
Baron AElfred of Chester, Companion of the Order of the Bronze Ring 
send good greetings,

Let it be known that I am honored to announce that Lord Michael Ashley 
has accepted my invitation to become my student of the arte of defence. 
Further that upon the 20th day of July in this the forty-first year of 
Our Society at one hour and a half past the striking of Vespers (7:30 
PM) Lord Michael shall Play the Prize for the rank of Scholar of the 
Arte of Defence.

I do invite all those who favor the use of the rapier to come cross 
blades with Lord Michael at single rapier at this time. All others who 
read these words are also welcome to help encourage the combatants and 
join us in this celebration.

We shall gather in the meeting hall of the Shire of Blackhawk starting 
at half an hour after the striking of Vespers (6:30 PM). Please see the 
directions below to determine how to get to the gathering place if you 
come from outside the walls of the shire.

Ths shire meeting hall: Northwest Community Center Corbett Building (in 
the rear of the complex), 1327 N. Johnston St, Rockford, IL

Directions from without the shire: Take I-90/39 to Rt 20 on the south 
side of Rockford. Go west toward Freeport. Exit at Montague Rd. Turn 
right at the top of the ramp. Turn left at Springfield Rd (the first 
light). Take Springfield to Auburn. Turn right on Auburn and go one 
mile to Johnston (look for large Citgo gas station on the corner). Turn 
left on Johnston. Community Senter will be on the right about two 
blocks north. Turn right into second driveway and proceed to the large 
building at the back of the complex.
