[Jararvellir] request for some help with fabric dyeing

Aurora:

There are several variables in color matching with dyes:

What is the fabric (cotton, wool, silk, polyester, rayon (ugh!), ramie
(nice), linen ....)?
Has the fabric been or will it be bleached before putting it in dye? (There
are several processes that don't involve clorine bleach, like Clorox(R).
Some are quite disgusting, but some are innoculous and very simple.) If
not, what color is it now?
What color are you trying to achieve? (If you have a Pantone Colormatch
book, that is a good reference.)
How close a match are you going for?
How much fabric are we talking about? Approximate yardage or dry weight in
pounds, please.
How will the fabric be used? Will it spend a lot of time in the sun?

Hi all,
With all the wonderful artisans here I was hoping someone could help
me with a few dyeing projects. I'm trying to figure out what kind of
dye to use to get the colors I want... it doesn't have to be period
dye... (modern is preferred). I'm just looking for someone who has
experience with fabric dyeing so that you can hopefully help me to
(sort of) match some colors.
blessings & thanks,
Aurora
