Sol just sent me notification of an event occuring in
the UW Dairy Barn tomorrow - while the Stock Pavilion
is not being used and the lot is not one of the ones
mentioned as special event parking, we are just next
door, so please be aware that there may be more
vehicles around than usual! Carpool if you can!

Dairy Barn as a Cradle of the Discovery of
VitaminsArnold Alanen, Professor, CALS and the Gaylord

David Nelson, Professor of Biochemistry and Director
of the Center for Biology Education

This special WN at TL celebrates the new status of the UW
Dairy Barn as a National Historic Landmark, the only
Barn in the nation with the Landmark designation.  The
Landmark status reflects the Barn's role as one of the
cradles of discovery of vitamins.  This WN at TL also
marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the
Single Grain Feeding Studies in 1907 that led in 1913
to the publication of the discoveries of Vitamins A
and B.  Arne Alanen will speak on the architectural
history of the Dairy Barn, and Dave Nelson will
describe the Barn's roles in agricultural and life
sciences research, teaching and extension.Special Time
and Location:6:30 - 7:15p.m. -  Reception in the Dairy
Forage Research Center, at 1925 Linden Dr.
7:15p.m. - Presentation in the UW Dairy Barn located
at 1915 Linden Dr.

Parking for this event is located in either Lot 39,
43, or 62. All can be found on the campus map linked
