(actually, mostly at the park down the street...)

See notes below for directions and important parking information

On Sunday, September 16th, the Cheshire Archers and the Barony of
Jararvellir will be hosting a Regional Fighting Practice.

We have put together a whole day of activities, in the hope
that many of you will be able to make it for at least a little while.
While there will be a focus on Combat Archery, we have space
available for a wide range of activities, including "regular" armored
combat (without archery), rapier, and thrown weapons.

Planned activities include the Jararvellir Archer's Brunch in the
morning, followed by the Cheshire Archers' Drill practice, fighting
with Combat Archery, making Combat Arrows, and a Potluck dinner.

(Please note, due to a ruling by the Earl Marshal, non-combatants
will not be able to shoot at armored fighters during this Regional
Practice. However, we will have bows and Combat Archery arrows for
folks to try out, shooting at a "static" (non-living) target, as well
as to join the Cheshire Archers in some "drill practice". We're
hoping this will be a chance for folks to learn how fun this can be,
and afterwards we would be glad to share information on how to become
an authorized Combat Archer.)

We're also open to any other activities folks can think of. We
encourage folks to come along and work on A&S or other projects, or
just hang out for a day of casual socializing.

Schedule for the Day

9:30-10:30 AM Setup (shade flies, tables, etc).

10:30-11:30 Archers' Brunch
The Jara Archers hold a monthly potluck Brunch, where folks bring
yummy food and we all enjoy.

11:30-2:30 PM Combat Archery Drill/Practice and CA Melee
The Cheshire Archers will run some "drills", and then join
in melee against other Combat Archers on the field.
Anyone is welcome to join our drill (discover the joy
of archery crunchies!) and then watch the
excitement of archers battling archers in a melee

11:30- ?? Regional Fighter Practice
Armored and Rapier combatants are invited to join us in
the park. There is plenty of space for everyone.

2:30-3:30 Post-fighting break for Combat Archers
Down time for folks to get out of armor, clean up, shower,
etc. (Jack has a shower, or we can hose people off...)

3:30-6:00 Arrow Making
We'll spend latter part of the afternoon indoors.
We've got the materials for another 100 Combat arrows,
we just have to put them together - and the fastest
way to do that is as a group!

6:00-8:00 Potluck Dinner/Cookout

8:00- ?? Hang out
If anyone still wants to hang out, Jack has a fire pit...

Additonal Information:

* For those attending the Brunch, we will have cooking facilities
available (camp stoves in the park).

* For those interested in combat archery, the Cheshire Archers will
be practicing, and gentles will be able to try shooting combat arrows
as well. We have loaner bows. Note we will *not* be shooting
regular archery, just combat arrows.

Directions:

Jack's Place is at 1110 Colby St, Madison.

Important note on parking:

Jack's street (Colby St) is currently under construction. To find
parking, you should either travel to Lakeside Street (north end of
the block) or Van Duesen street (south end of the block). Jack's
Place is halfway along the block, with a large garden area out front.
It is two houses down from the school on the corner of Colby and Van
Duesen (which is kitty corner from the park area).

From outside Madison: Make your best route to the Beltline (US
14/18/151) to the John Nolen Drive exit. Proceed North on John Nolen
to the third stoplight (at Lakeside), and turn left (West) onto
Lakeside, and follow directions below for the park area or the house
(depending on weather).

Directions for the park area:
For the best parking near the park area, once on Lakeside take an
immediate left (just after the railroad tracks) onto Sayle St (by the
VFW). Follow sayle to the end of the block, the road curves and
becomes Van Duesen St. Yu will see the park area on the left. Proceed
forward and find parking as close to the activities as you can.

Directions for the house:
Once on Lakeside, take the third left (one block after Colby St,
where the construction is) onto Homer Ct. Take Homer one block and
turn left onto Van Duesen. Find parking as best you can. Jack's
place is nearby - turn left at the school on the corner and it's the
second house on the left.

One last note: Please use the side door for the house.

We hope you can join us some time during the day for fun and fighting
on a lovely fall day...!

Any questions? Please call Jack at 608-257-1082 (home) or
