[Jararvellir] Tuesday, September 18--Needlearts & Armouring at the same house

Tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 18, you're invited to come join us and
learn by doing. On Tuesday, September 18, both the Needlearts and Armouring
Guilds will be meeting at the same house. Come to 3314 Ridgeway Ave. (usual
location for Armouring and special location for Needlearts) between 7 and 10
pm and join us in either or both activities.

The Needlearts Guild is dedicated to the study of various forms of fiber
art, including embroidery, weaving, knitting and spinning. All levels of
knowledge are welcome. The guild meets weekly on Tuesdays from 7:30 to
9:00-ish at various member's homes, where members work on projects in
progress, get advice on a new project, and can even learn new skills. All
levels of experience are welcome. Contact for other week's locations: John

Interested in making your own armour? The Armourers' Guild has all the
materials, most of the tools, and many patterns needed to make SCA armour.
We can teach pretty much anybody enough basic metal and leather working to
build basic armor. Anyone with a metal working project is welcome. There is
a charge for materials, but you will probably be surprised by how cheap iron
and such are. Wear long pants and shoes (not sandals). In the Winter wear
warm clothes, as the workshop is not effectively heated.

>From the Capitol, take East Washington towards East Towne. After going over
the bridge at Hwy 30/Aberg Ave., you will take the 2nd left which is
Carpenter St. Take this one block up the hill and turn right on Ridgeway
Ave. Hers is the 3rd house (bright blue and gold). Call 214-1107 or email

Please note that this house has 4 four-legged carnivores (2 dogs and 2 cats)
so allergens are present for this week's Needlearts. This is NOT always the
case for this guild.
