[Jararvellir] OT: Looking for something to do on Sunday afternoon?

Greetings!  As you may have heard by now, the UW is using the Stock  
Pavilion today, which means that the Cheshire Archers practice that  
was scheduled for today is being cancelled.

Instead, the Cheshire Archers will be gathering at Jack's house  
(directions below), and going over to Goodman Field, the nearby park,  
to do some practice and/or play with Combat Archery, followed by a  
potluck dinner and working on projects for the evening.

(Please note that this activity is NOT an official SCA activity;  
rather, it's simply a bunch of folks gathering in a park to play a  
game.  Our use of SCA rules and equipment is not meant to indicate  
any official role for the SCA or the Barony of Jararvellir.)

We still have some loaner armor and bows, so folks can still come by  
to give this a try.  We will also have Belegarth arrows on hand, for  
those who want to take a try at "boffer" style fighting for adults.

We will be starting around 2 at Jack's house (1110 Colby St,  
Madison), and then heading down Colby St to the nearest
corner of Goodman Field (the park with the Madison Swimming Pool in it).

It's a beautiful spring day - the wind is a bit nippy, but otherwise  
it's quite lovely out.  So bring a jacket (or a gambeson *grin*) and
come join us at Goodman Field for some playing in the park!

We will take a break from 4-5:30, and then gather again at Jack's for  
a potluck dinner and Cheshire Archers Work Party.  We have a number of
projects to work on, or people can bring their own projects if they  
like.

Directions to Jack's:

Make your way to John Nolen Drive...

 From the North: heading south on John Nolen, the first light after
Lake Monona is Lakeside St.  Take a right, and then Colby is the
second left (past the VFW).  Jack's house is at the top of the hill on
the right.

 From the South (Beltline/Rimrock Rd.) : Heading North on John Nolen,
the first light after the Alliant Energy Center/Coliseum is Olin Ave.
  Turn left onto Olin and follow it thru a large S curve.  Continue
past office buildings on the right until you cross a bridge and see a
park coming up on the left (where you may see people playing in the
field...)  Colby St is the right turn directly across from the park,
turn right.  Jack's house is on the left, the second house after the
school on the corner of the second block.
