Greetings, everyone!
As the current A&S champion for Jararvellir, Baroness Eithni has asked me to
assist her with picking my successor. To that end, I would like to announce
that there will be an A&S display table at Jararvellir's 35th Anniversary on
May 3 where gentles may display their work. Works in progress are fine, as
are pieces you may have entered in prior A&S displays or competitions.
The only requirement, in keeping with HE Eithni's laurel, is that each work
should be accompanied by a modicum of documentation. Am I asking you to
write a term paper? No! You merely need to be able to supply some basic
information, such as:
* Who are you? - We can't recognize your artistry if we have no idea
who you are
* What is your piece? - what have you made? A bowl? A very small
helm? Help us out here.
* What time period and culture does it represent? Is this 16th
century French or 14th century Japanese? Help the viewer place your work in
the correct context.
* What methods/materials/research went into its construction? - Was
it painted? Was it turned on a lathe? Is it cotton, or linen? Provide
details on your work. This is your chance to expand a bit about the effort
you put into your work. If you wish to provide additional documentation such
as a list of sources or pictures of a period example you may have been
working from, you may choose to do so, but this is not required. A short
paragraph will suffice as well.
See? Just 4 easy questions to answer...
Following the successful method used at the A&S display at Coronation last
week, the populace may show their appreciation for your work by leaving
comments and/or questions for you on pages which will be supplied. HE
Eithini will then use the entrants and the comments provided to assist her
with the selection of the next A&S champion of Jararvellir. Note that this
does not restrict the A&S display to only Jara residents. Any are free to
participate.
Finding the display: The A&S display will be located near the Baronial
history display.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email or talk to me in
person. Also, this message may be forwarded to other email lists as
appropriate.
