Reposting from another list:
"We are seeking paid volunteers for a two-month research study to determine
whether the antacid omeprazole decreases intestinal calcium absorption.
Calcium is important for strong bones. This study will help show if acid
suppressant medicine decreases intestinal calcium absorption. Dr. Karen
Hansen and her colleagues at the University of Wisconsin Osteoporosis
Research Center are conducting this study.
If you are a woman at least five years past menopause and are not currently
taking medication to lower stomach acid, you may be eligible to participate.
The study involves 4 visits over 3 months. Three visits are 24-hour stays at
the UW Hospital General Clinical Research Center. Volunteers take the
antacid omeprazole for 30 days between the 2nd and 3rd hospital stay.
Volunteers receive compensation for completed study visits.
If you are interested, please call 608-263-0517 for more information and ask
for the "Omeprazole Study." If we are unable to take your call, please leave
a message with your name, phone number and the best time to reach you."
