Hi all,
We've had an exciting couple of days. Monday night Kaydian fell and
broke his ankle. I was minutes away from my friend's near Minneapolis
where I stay when I'm working up there, and Matthias was at a sports
event at school. Kaydian called an ambulance and was taken to UW
Hospital. They reset his bone and kept him overnight. Poor Matthais
spent his first night at home sans parents--what a way to do it. He and
I both had long nights. Early yesterday morning I drove back here.
Yesterday Kaydian had surgery, where they put a plate on his ankle,
followed by a splint. I'm not sure if an actual cast is going on or
not. This morning he is in much better spirits. He has good pain
medicine, has been sitting up, and has gone once around his room on
crutches (and is now exhausted). He even got to eat--jello, which he
hates, so you know how hungry he was.
We will hopefully be able to bring him home today--which should be quite
the adventure! He has to stay off his leg (his right one, of course)
for at least 8 weeks. So you may not be seeing a lot of him. The plan
is that after 8 weeks he will get a walking boot.
Cassandra
