Greetings from Josceline. I have a great many people to thank for last weekend's event. In no particular order, I wish to thank:
The folks who took Friday off work so they could come to the site early and set up: Baron Ed the Tall, Lady Sol, Lord Reinholdt & Lady Ermina and Master Giles. Thanks also to the second wave who came after work. I'm afraid to try to list you all, because I know I will forget someone.
The Feast Steward, Lord Conner, and his crew. Feast was delicious and filling, and he accommodated the last-minute schedule changes (due to court being longer than I expected and the ball therefore starting late). Clean-up was accomplished efficiently, allowing me to lock up the site earlier than I expected.
Lady Jois for coordinating the serving crew.
Lady Ingrid for coordinating the merchants.
Lady Tatiana and Viscountess Elashava for staffing the front gate pretty much all day. Thanks also to James and Lady Marian (and anyone else I might have missed) for helping out at the gate for part of the day.
The Lunch Steward, Countess AEsa, and her helpers. Lunch was delicious and filling. It had the added benefit of being mostly portable, which was a great virtue when there were so many activities going on concurrently.
Baroness Eithni, for the idea to have an educational collegium, rather than just a few classes, as a central activity at the Barony's 35th Anniversary, and for creating the "One Kingdom" track of try-something-new classes. It is a Good Thing to understand and appreciate other activities, even those that turn out not to be one's cup of tea.
Lady Ermina, for lending her enthusiasm and organizational skills to the planning and logistics of the collegium.
All of the teachers who shared their knowledge. I particularly want to thank our special guest speakers, Duke Conn (Bob Charron) and Viscountess Kassandra (Kristina Charron), who shared their research and raised awareness of how period martial treatises are relevant to peaceful arts and scholarship as well.
Lord Karl and Count Raito for coordinating the martial activities.
Lord Cosimo for coordinating the rapier activities.
Lady Thea for coordinating all of the dance activities.
Herr Nikolaus for coordinating the dance band.
The Honorable Lord Ivan for coordinating the A&S display.
Baron Adrien for organizing the Baronial history display (and taking over most of the housework last week while I worked on event preparations).
Ladies AElfguire and Sile, who ran errands and drafted work crews as needed during the event.
All the good people who stayed after feast to help with clean-up on Saturday night.
The crew who came back to the site early Sunday morning to take down the carports and sweep/vacuum the floors: Baron Ed, Lady Jois, Lord Toussaint, Lord Karl, Master Collin (formerly Calvin) and Baroness Eithni.
The Baronies of Castel Rouge and Windhaven for directly contributing to the event with their anniversary gifts (edible and potable treats from Windhaven; the honorarium for the keynote presentation from Castel Rouge), and the entire Territorial Baronage of Northshield for gracing the event with their presence. It was truly a special occasion to have you all here.
All of the attendees. We had visitors from five Kingdoms (and two modern nations), as well as people who had not been to an SCA event in quite a while. It felt like a family reunion.
Although I have mentioned him twice, I cannot possibly thank Baron Ed the Tall enough. Though most of Northshield has an inkling of the things he does for events in Jaravellir and elsewhere, unless you have worked closely with him on an event staff, you have no idea how generous this man is with his time, skills and resources. Thanks again, Ed.
In service,
Josceline
