Hello all!
I've a couple of food things from WW that aren't mine...
Lori, I have three bottles of your IBC soda, I can bring 'em next Monday to
the meeting for you.
I also have a thing of Hershey's bars, unopened (like, eight of 'em), and a
bag of Doritos. There was a bag of Chex Mix, too, but my family got into it
before I realized it wasn't ours (sorry!). I think that's it.
Oooh, and I also have included the event report that I turned in (below, in
the body of the email, since when i tried to send it as an attatchment it
was blocked), so y'all can look at it if you want, now that I've remembered.
See y'all next week Monday! Have a good week!
IS,
Gudrun
Northshield Dance Seminar XX Event Report
by Gudrun of Tor Aerie, co-Site Steward
Overview, Officers
Northshield Dance Seminar XX was held on Saturday, April 29th, 2006 at the
University of Minnesotas St. Paul student union, hosted by the Baronial
College of Tor Aerie. The event autocrat was Maestro Etienne de Clermont
(Steven Bush), the site stewards for Tor Aerie were Janos Lea (Krissy Taray,
Tor Aeries webmistress) and Gudrun of Tor Aerie (Elizabeth Rome). Other
offices and officers include: Gudrun as head of Troll, Nezhka (Margaret
Broz) as food person (dessert revel co-ordinator, eatery map person), Lori
of Tor Aerie as head of Set-up/Tear-down (which ended up being a superfluous
position, as the people at the union took care of most everything), Eyja
Gellir Bassadottir (Melanie Pafko) as paper person (signage, pamphlets,
dance books, etc.).
Activities
Dancing! There were classes on dances from all over the world, including
English Country, Middle Eastern, sword dance, and Italian. There were also
music classes (shapenote singing, hurdy-gurdy). People went to near-by
eateries for lunch and dinner, or ordered pizza, and in the evening, there
was a very plentiful dessert revel. In the evening there was also a ball,
with sets of dances, some taught earlier in the day, for people to dance. We
had an ensemble of live musicians, and people had a good time.
Attendance
37 members and 42 non-members attended, for a total of 79 attendees,
including those of us working the site. There was no site fee - we chose to
make it donations partly so people like students could make it more easily.
We recieved $224.21 in donations, and sold dance booklets for $2 each for a
total of $74.00 worth.
How Things Went
Things went pretty well. Troll was smooth, though there was initially some
confusion with putting booklet money in the donation jar, but was resolved.
The set-up/tear-down position seemed unnecessary, as the people at the union
took care of everything. There was also some confusion about food menus, and
there could have been clearer parking instructions/suggestions on the event
website, as well as signage on the streets near the site. Also, freeway
construction had been scheduled for that day, as people were informed on the
website, but in the paper that morning (or the day before) there had been a
small notice that the construction was postponed. People had some trouble
taking alternate routes.
Preparation for the event could have gone more smoothly, but this was the
first event the site-stewards helped run, and did not always know what we
needed to do, but more long-time members of the group were very helpful in
letting us know what was needed.
