kamakura was 1185-1333, muromachi 1336-1573, sengoku at the end of
muromachi, 1467-1573. contact with the portuguese in 1543, the spanish 1587,
the dutch in 1609. very late period, if not juuuuust outside of it...

and yes, shoguns and samurai!
