I'm posting this to the whole list so that a) people can correct me if I
got something wrong and b) other members (like Theckla) can see what sort
of progess we're making, and possibly give input.
Art-ic Madness (from here on out refered to as AM, just because I'm lazy)
is going to be an A&S showcase, where SCA members are encouraged to come
and do what they do.
-Beth currently has a list of people she intends to contact.
-Some suggested crafts, arts, and sciences thrown around were weaving,
sewing, brewing, baking, illumination, tent-making, blacksmithing,
woodworking, hospitality, and instrument making
-Perhaps we can have music and dancing? The Northshield choir, even?
-We can have loaner garb and nametags at the entrance
--Have heralds make up a bunch of fake SCA names for newbies? XD
Schedules:
-No formal classes.
--We can ask the artists to come bring things for others to play with, just
for some hands-on fun.
--What about an officers' corner, where officers get together and talk
about it?
--We could have some basic figting classes, too.
-We don't need site booklets: We could have a meet-and-greet board... just
have people sign up for times on the wall.
-Court is whenever the royals want, although we can suggest a time.
--Do we have a court liason?
--Not a lot of royalty is likely to show up
-No formal competitions, but we can encourage the artists to stage their
own.
Presenter Identification:
-Ask them to bring their own documentation
-We provide some alternative? Have them fill it out there?
Photo Station: This came out of nowhere XD
-Have a photo station ready so that people can have their picture taken in
garb!
-Need loaner garb nearby, because non-SCAdians might want some
-Illumination backdrop... provided by Leia?
-Ramon can check out a camera from work
--That means he needs to stick with the camera all day, though
-Have a photo printer there?
Location: Nolte has yet to be confirmed or denied. They might not respond
until the school year starts.
-Other options, should Nolte be denied (that we might want to look into
now) are:
--Coffman (3rd floor would be good, but pricey)
--"Just showing up," as we can apparently do that, being a student group
(we wouldn't be able to fight or do blacksmithing)
--The Armory (the SCA had bad history with it, though)
--St. Paul Student Center
--A Church
--A Public Park (hopefully one with an enclosure)
--Public High School (no brewing or rapier)
-Note: The Nolte dining room has very awkward elevator access, through the
tunnels.
Food:
-We need a caterer's license to sell food.
--Some SCAdians get catering licenses for that very reason, can we get one
of those?
---A food permit would be easy to obtain after we have a catering license.
-Dinkytown may not be too bad
--We could put an interesting event or something after lunch
--Have someone do food runs to Dinkytown, and bring it back to AM?
--Order food? Order pizzas? Bulk orders might get them cheap.
-Perhaps ask people to bring their own lunches.
Budget: we still don't know enough to make one.
-Comment books and writing utensils
--There should be enough for 150-200 people.
--Angriff is out of the paper place, so we'll have to do it the original
way: either ordering in bulk, or making our own.
--Writing utensils can be modern pens and pencils. If people want period,
they can bring their own...we're just too poor.
--Go to a bulk party supply store
-We'll probably need to rent tables.
-Site fees are still iffy.
--Possibly $2 for members, $5 for non?
--Use the photo station for suggested donations?
-Gudrun's working on the budget.
Flyers: Beth applied, and it shouldn't be a problem. We just need extra
trash receptacles.
Advertising:
-We may have missed the Northwatch deadline, and we still don't have a
confirmed location.
-It's on the calender?
-Use the member lists and announce it at Wednesday night meetings
Bridge panels: Beth is going to go to the Washington Bridge today to see if
our panels are still intact.
