Urban 4-H is hiring a full-time intern for the summer of 2008 to lead and develop out-of-school time youth programs!
We’re looking for an energetic, strong leader who has a desire to work with youth and wants to build his or her skills as a youth worker and program developer. A full position description follows.

This position is full time for 10 weeks this summer (2008). The person filling this position will be responsible for program delivery as well as program development for Urban 4-H Youth Development. The program leadership will be carried out through community partnerships with other youth serving organizations in Minneapolis and St. Paul utilizing signature programs Urban Youth Learn and Urban Youth Lead. Primary responsibilities include:
50% time program delivery:
· Deliver educational leadership programs with youth, grades 3-9
· Prepare lessons and program activities (i.e. leadership, sportsmanship, community engagement)
· Supervise and enforce program rules and expectations
50% time program development:
· Maintain program, evaluation, and lesson documentation
· Assist in planning and provide leadership to field trips and all other off-site activities
· Work collaboratively with Urban 4-H Youth Development team and community partners and volunteers
· Assist in development of upcoming programs within Urban 4-H
Required qualifications:
· Current college or university student
· One year of experience working/volunteering with and/or on behalf of youth
· Success in teaching and leading youth activities
· Ability to effectively work in culturally and ethnically diverse settings
· Ability to work independently and as a team
· Good communication skills
· Flexibility and dependability
· Willingness to learn new skills
· Computer skills
· Access to reliable transportation
Preferred qualifications:
· Currently majoring in education, youth or child development, sociology, psychology, or related field;
· Foreign language skills
· People of color strongly encouraged to apply
Pay: $10/hr
