Greetings unto all, in Northshield and beyond her borders!
As Provost of Bardic Madness XVIII: By the Numbers, to be held April 25-27,
2008 in Phelps, WI, I am glad to announce that there is now a website with
information about the event. You can visit it at:
http://www.gflower.org/bmxviii.htm
The event also marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Shire of
Mistig Waetru. Come celebrate with the Misties! Since the Shires of Mistig
Waetru and Skerjastrond, our hosts, were able to get Phelps School as our
site, you are welcome to bring your own bedding/sleepover stuff and crash on
site Friday and Saturday nights, or there are also nearby lodging options
listed on the website. There will be a delectable Feast on the themes of
Roman and Arabic food, in honor of the sources of the numerals we use! And
of course, there will be not one but TWO evening bardic circles.
Twelve bardic challenges have been prepared--view them at:
http://www.gflower.org/bmxviiichallenges.htm Plan on participating, or come
to applaud your friends!
The announcement many have been waiting for: I am now soliciting bardic
patrons for the challenges. The role of a patron is to serve as a gracious
host for each challenge, announcing the participants and providing a token
for each one. If you would like to be a patron, please contact me privately
at jennifer-friedman at sbcglobal.net and state your first and second
preference of challenge. Don't dawdle--there is usually a rush for patron
spots!
We would like to offer many fascinating classes on bardic-related topics,
such as literature, performing arts practice or technique, writing,
history/persona development, music, or patronage. We are not looking for
non-bardic-related classes at this time. There will be two one-hour class
periods. All classes should be open to minors; classes specifically geared
towards children or families would be great! If you're interested in
teaching a class, please send me the following information: SCA name, group,
class title, class description, and any special needs such as a quiet
space/electricity/tables/etc.
The event staff has been working to make Bardic Madness extra-special this
year, but we all know that it is YOU that make the event, by bringing your
smiles, your attention, your laughter, and your voice to the Madness.
Please plan to be with us!
Yours in song and service,
Eliane
